GOAL The goal of WCI is to increase the participation of women in the field of Computational Intelligence. Specifically WCI will strive to provide leadership opportunities, to provide guidance and encouragement, and to increase the number of qualified women in Computational Intelligence. STRATEGY WIC will strive to meet its goals in such a way that the resulting products meet the most urgent needs of women but are also useful to both men and women potentially interested in CI. There is a special need to train women to teach those who cannot attend traditional schools, and / or those being home-schooled. Supplements to existing educational material or new textbooks / workbooks are urgently needed. These materials should be available in the US and worldwide, in print and on the web. Problems, examples and experiments should be included. Although women have an acute need for this material, once it is developed, it should benefit everyone. ACTIVITIES As a first step toward education, this website lists useful links to existing material. Suggestions for additional links are welcome. A moderated email list is available. To enroll, contact m.padgett(at)ieee.org. MEMBERSHIP Membership in WCI is open to men and women. Voting membership requires membership in the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society. |
